I grew up just outside Sioux Falls, SD. I was fortunate enough to grow up on an acreage that had a river running through it that I could fish. I was like every other kid and used the worm on hook method, with very little success. So like any other kid in that situation, I lost interest.
For as long as I can remember, my dad has fly fished. I remember him and his friends going on trout trips out to the hills, and that always sounded awesome to me. So when I moved to Spearfish to go to school, I was excited to hear that fly fishing was a recommended course for Outdoor Education majors.
From the first class, I was hooked on it. It took me one whole year to land a fish on my own in Spearfish Canyon. And from that point, I hit the ground running! I read books, talked to anyone I could about fishing, and went out as often as I could to get as much experience as possible. Now I spend most of my free time in the stream catching some of the quality fish that the Hills have to offer! When I'm not in the stream, I spend my time in my wood shop and with my girlfriend, Christina, trying to keep our husky, Lana, entertained!
I grew up in Eastern Wyoming loving the outdoors and the art of fly fishing. I’ve lived in the Black Hills of South Dakota for over a decade. Three years of which was guiding people throughout the hills chasing trout.
I love to spend my time with my wife Jennifer, and three kids, Noah, Duncan, and Finley enjoying nature. My family are no strangers to the art of “casting a bug.” My true passion is getting people into nature, teaching them about the fish and wildlife. I pursue big game in the fall, and love calling for elk. In the spring I spend a lot of time striking up a spring gobbler.
The Black Hills are unique fly fishing opportunity and I look forward to taking you along for an unforgettable adventure.
